Family Manners Class is a basic obedience style course, that is designed to help all dogs over 12 months of age to learn fundamentals and convert possible bad habits into good behaviours. A pet dog needs to learn to get on with their family on a day-to-day basis. We separate the ideas of behaviour and personality - this means your dog gets to be a dog, but learns how to behave with humans to our mutual benefit.
Many dogs get surrendered by their owners for behaving like dogs - over excited, overly energetic and often destructive. Teaching your dog the basic fundamentals of how to coexist with the people in their social group, means that they have a better chance of staying at home with their loved ones. Because a dog is high energy doesn't mean they need to live on a farm, but it does mean they need to be trained to help them overcome their instincts and find other channels for their energy. All breeds and all ages of dogs can be trained using positive reinforcement methods.
What are the Family Manners Classes:
Family Manners Level One - This is an introduction to basic dog manners, we cover the 5 main behaviours that people want their dogs to do reliably - sit, drop, come when called, stay and walking on a lead. We also include exercises that help dogs with impulse control and a few tricks for good measure.
Family Manners Level Two - Designed to be a continuation to Family Manners Level One, this course is about improving the behaviours that you have already learnt - how do you get your dog to respond faster and more effectively. We will begin to add distractions while you work with your dog, helping your dog to stay focused in the real world.
