We have a variety of puppy classes to help you and your family get off to the right start with your dog. Our Puppy Classes are designed to address the specific periods of behaviour that your dog faces as it grows up. These classes are age based, because often in puppies, age is an indicator of how they will interact with the world.
Most people are aware that young puppies need to be socialised, so they attend puppy classes - often, however, they do not continue training and fail to continue socialising their dogs to new experiences. Puppy class should be a beginning for training and socialising your dog, but is not the end. Just as we attend school for our developmental stages (preschool to high school) between the ages of 8 weeks to 12 months your dog is also going through similar developmental stages.
What are the Puppy Classes?
Puppy Class:
For puppies 8 weeks to 20 weeks old. This class is designed for new puppy owners to help their puppies become socialised with other dogs and new situations, plus some basic obedience to help puppies get use to living with their new family.
Advanced Puppy Class:
For puppies 3 months to 6 months old. This class is for those that missed out on puppy class or attended puppy class with another trainer. We bring the training focus off socialisation and on to behaviour; we will build upon your current skills and help you make your dog's behaviour more reliable.
Beyond Puppy Class:
For puppies 4 months to 12 months, who have attended either Doggy Dogma's Puppy Class or Advanced Puppy Class. This class has two main purposes: to give you the tools to take your dog from the class room to the real world; and, to help reduce frustration that can come as your puppy heads into adolescence and behaviour changes begin.
