Many people think that Puppy Class is about training your dog in obedience. While you may be taught a few obedience skills, Puppy Class is actually about acceptance and socialisation. The best and easiest way to help your puppy begin to understand the world around it is by understanding reinforcement and how to use positive reinforcement to get the best out of your puppy. This is a great foundation to begin your dogs training.
Puppies attend class up to the the age of 20 weeks, because up until this time puppies are often fearless and are accepting and welcoming of new experiences. Their curiosity far out ways any possible consequences. You can introduce them slowly to many new things like noises, places, people and other dogs at this age and it should help your puppy become a well adjusted, happy adult dog. Puppy classes help you manage this process and to understand your pup.
